“This book was written after a good friend encouraged me to compile the photos I captured during my postgraduate studies in London, United Kingdom. The gloomy and empty atmosphere present in the photographs were intentionally created to shatter the tourist gaze and offer another perspective on the often-glamorised life of Indonesian students overseas. 

I wanted to share the feelings of emptiness and the bitter realisations of having to find a sense of home and belonging in one of the loneliest cities in the world. All the photographs were taken using a 35mm analog camera, as I found analog photography therapeutic. It also to highlight the fact that I had only one chance to ‘make things right’ when I was there.” – Fieni Aprilia
