In May 2015, Rahaddis Adiyoga traveled to Aceh, Indonesia–often referred to as the Veranda of Mecca–to participate in a volunteer programme. The expedition to Indonesia’s outermost islands was organised by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

He chose to go to Banyak Island, which borders the Indian Ocean and is located at the westermost tip of Sumatra, in Aceh Singkil. Dating back to 2004, the island was severely affected by natural disasters–an earthquake and a tsunami–that devastated the province of Aceh and claimed hundreds of thousand of lives.
